We enjoy being here, every day, and our aim is to share this enjoyment with others
In 2018 Joost and Caroline became the proud, new owners of the beautiful heritage building, chateau Villa Madonna. Read on to find out why they did this and what inspires their dream.
Rich in history and detail
Villa Madonna is a 19th-century chateau in art nouveau style, located on the flanks of the legendary Kruisberg hill in Ronse. It was designed by architect M. De Noyette in 1906, as commissioned by justice of the peace, Edmond Matthys. The property has a long history and will delight every lover of historic, listed and heritage buildings.
Joost and Caroline are very much in love with their cultural heritage. They find the history and craftsmanship of Villa Madonna unique – inside and outside the chateau. ‘We just enjoy being here, every day, and our aim is to share this enjoyment with others. We want to bring people together in this unique and inspiring environment. The objective of all the events, visits and packages is to support the restoration and renovation of the beautiful Villa Madonna estate, in all its glory.’

In 2018 Joost and Caroline became the extremely proud, new owners of the beautiful heritage building, chateau Villa Madonna. ‘There’s a little story attached to how we ended up in the town of Ronse, and in Villa Madonna. It all started with a search for authentic cement tiles … which we found in an old, renovated, square farmhouse. The beautifully renovated farmhouse impressed us. It had real soul, and so much anecdote and history – which you just don’t get with a new-build house. Out of curiosity, we looked around on the real estate web and Joost jokingly typed in ‘chateau’. And Villa Madonna appeared! The photos were promising, but Ronse was unknown to us, and seemed a bit far away. Still, we were curious and decided to have a look. Well, it was love at first sight! There is so much talk about authentic homes, but Villa Madonna really has authenticity in spades. Inside and outside. And that really appealed to us. I like history and Joost likes crafts. And all these aspects are reflected in Villa Madonna. A unique property with lots of character and a beautiful soul!’
