Library

The library, or salon, is fully intact, with its authentic furniture.

Salon

The dining room and large Salon have parquet flooring, wood-panelled and green-upholstered walls, marble fireplace, and a painted ceiling depicting grapes. A wood-framed, bay window overlooks the garden. A stone bay window in the facade houses the office.

The large hall

The hall is furnished with a decorative ceramic floor, wooden wall-panelling, verdure tapestry wall coverings and a ceiling painted with flowers. The benches on either side of the black marble fireplace, with its copper doors, form a typically cosy corner.

Winter garden

This original, open space was lawned in the late 19th century.

Staircase

Staircase with landings, with a characterful, wooden banister.

Office

The office of justice of the peace E. Matthijs is located on the south side and offers a beautiful view of the park garden.

Park garden

Villa Madonna is situated in a wooded, sloping garden of about 1 hectare, accessible through two iron gates on the southern slope of the Kruisberg, near the city border of Kluisbergen (Zulzeke). The garden includes the original dog kennel, a baking oven, a former orangery, and a circular pond. Protected trees (mainly red and green beech), more than 220 years old, are in perfect harmony with the chateau.

Baker’s oven

In 2019, the authentic baker’s oven was restored. This was located in a dilapidated outbuilding dated 1880, where bread was baked in the past. The building also served as a laundry, with an oven in which a 50-litre copper bowl was heated. The baker’s oven was recommissioned in 2020 for events such as baking pizzas, bread-making workshops, etc.

Kitchen / ice house

The original ice house, in the cellar under the baker’s oven, dates back to 1880. It has been fully converted into an industrial kitchen and can serve as a comfortable venue for medium-sized events. The barrel vaults have been fully restored. Fridges, freezers, an oven and microwave oven, gas burners, bain-marie, deep fryers, hot and cold zones … all finished in stainless steel.

Terrace / orangery

The orangery is currently under renovation and we have covered this beautiful location, overlooking the park garden and chateau, with a stretch tent. Among other features, this space seats up to 50 people, accommodates party tables, has terrace heating and is equipped with OFYR and Glowbus outdoor hearths.

Cellar

The original central heating boiler, located beneath the private terrace, has been converted. 2 toilets, 2 showers, a washroom and an industrial area with beverage fridge, professional coffee machine, industrial dishwasher, etc.
